Rhythm's Three of a Kind is a registered half-Saddlebred, black with a star. He was surrendered to SAFE by his owner. We first learned of Rhythm through Animal Control in Snohomish County after an officer contacted us in regard to a young stud horse that was running loose in an area north of Everett. Rhythm was being kept in a small pen made of two strands of loose barbed wire and uncapped t-posts. His precarious situation turned deadly when he became entangled in the barbed wire which tore a deep laceration just above his hoof. SAFE had him transfered to a foster home in Monroe, where his wound was assessed and found to be very serious. The odds of him surviving this injury looked grim, but we decided to give him a chance. Dr Hannah debrided and stitched the wound, and provided daily bandage changes and cleaning, and remarkably, Rhythm's wound has not only healed, but he is completely and totally sound.

The next step in Rhythm's transformation was gelding, which was done on May 30, 2008. He has fully recovered from the procedure, and is now available for adoption.

Rhythm is a very sweet, friendly and playful young man. He is extremely handsome as well, and is quite a fancy mover with a lot of reach in the trot and pretty suspension. Click here to see a video of Rhythm in flight. His manners on the ground are good, and he gets along very well with other horses. He is good for the farrier and easy to trailer as well.

Rhythm's sire is a Saddlebred named RLB Blaze of Rhythm, who is by HHP Rhythm Command. His dam is an unregistered purebred Egyptian Arab.

Update (5/16/09):
Rhythm, along with his friend Lexi, leaves today for training. He will be started under saddle by Andrea Lucianna of Half Trak Farm.

Training Update (5/23/09):
Rhythm's training is going very well. He, like Lexi, has learned to cross-tie, get baths, lunges, and wears a saddle and bridle. All of which he took to like no big deal (she said he never really even looked at the saddle, he just didn't care). He was hard to catch the first few days but now he comes right up to you to be caught. He's a little fussy about having his hind feet messed with (fallout from his injury, probably), but getting better every day.

All in all, Andrea says they are both super cute and have a lot of potential. And this group (so far) has been the easiest to start. Rhythm is super sweet and easy going!

They are working on desentization and lunging this week and next week they will start leaning over their backs.

Training Update (6/3/09):
Rhythm is doing fantastic in training! He is now having a rider leaning over his back and walking around and quite honestly he could care less. He is a total sweetheart and everyone just loves him. He's been separated from Lexi (due to their herdboundedness to each other) and his new friend is a big black Friesian/Clydesdale cross gelding. He's doing so well, the ONLY issue he has is that he is a little headshy especially about having his ears touched, so bridling has been a little bit of a problem, but he is improving every day. Good job Rhythm!!

Training Update (6/28/09):
Rhythm's training is coming along very well. He's almost completely over his ear shyness, and riding has been no big deal for him at all. He is now walking and trotting around the big arena (off the lunge) under saddle.

Training Update (7/23/09):
Rhythm is doing great according to the trainer. He's cantering under saddle both directions and knows his leads, and going fairly consistently on the bit. Tomorrow he has his first trail ride! He'll be ponied the first time and once he gets the idea he will go out with a rider.

He's growing again and is butt-high right now.
