SHOWMANSHIP:
The handler is judged.
Exhibitor to demonstrate his/her ability to groom and otherwise prepare the horse and then present it in the ring, follow the pattern correctly and exhibit the animal to its best advantage without ever physically touching the horse. Horses will NOT be faulted for having natural muzzle whiskers.
EQUITATION:
The rider is judged.
A good equitation rider is always in balance with the horse, maintains a correct position in every gait or movement and possesses a commanding, but relaxed, presence. They are effective riders, able to direct the horse with nearly invisible aids.
PLEASURE:
The horse is judged on quality of movement, proper behavior, form in motion, and calm manner. Faults are assessed on infractions such as excessive speed or slowness, breaking of the gait, poor transitions, being on the wrong lead or having incorrect head position.
TRAIL:
Horse & Rider/Handler Judged.
Obstacle Course. Judged on following correct pattern, nearly invisible
use of aids, equitation, pleasure, sensitivity of horse to obstacles
and willingness to comply. Patterns will be posted at show. Trail Classes will be held in a separate arena. Details will be available at registration.
OTHER HALF LEADLINE:
Equitation.
Wife/child leads Husband/father in Leadline Class.
HUNTER HACK:
Walk/Trot/Canter plus two 2' jumps.
18 & Over Only - Helmets Required. May ride English or Western.
Jump at your own risk.
BRIBE-YOUR-HORSE RACE:
Handler leads horse into ring & turns horse loose.
Must use bribes and coaxing to get horse to complete pattern.
Handler CANNOT touch horse after crossing start line.
TIMED - DQ after 2 minutes.
SIT-A-BUCK:
No registration required. $2 entry fee payable at the gate. (one dollar bill will be used in the event, the other is a donation to SAFE.)
Bareback - Dollar Bill must be placed under 'seat' using no sticky/attaching devices or aids. Must ride 2-handed to show dollar bill has not been touched once in motion. Walk/Trot/Lope. Last participant with dollar bill in place wins all the dollars left on arena floor.
DQ for touching dollar bill or using multiples.
Rescue Horse: Any Breed/Any Color
A rescue horse is one adopted from a rescue or humane society, or saved from previous neglect or abuse. Please provide proof of adoption from a Horse Rescue if possible.
No cross entry between Rescue Horse and Non-Rescue Horse classes permitted. Cross entry will be permitted between Rescue Horse and Senior Horse classes if the horse is 15 years old or older.
Non-Rescue Horse: Any Breed/Any Color
A Non-Rescue horse is a lucky horse indeed.
No cross entry between Non-Rescue Horse and Rescue Horse classes permitted. Cross entry will be permitted between Non-Rescue Horse and Senior Horse classes if the horse is 15 years old or older.
Senior Horse: Any Breed/Any Color
A horse who is 15 years old or older.
Open Novice: Riders of any Age who have never won First or Second place in a horse show.
