SAFE Benefit Horse Show 2008 - Show Rules

1. A signed copy of the Rules must be turned in prior to your first class.

2. Anyone under 18 years of age must wear a helmet. All riders entering the Hunter Hack(jump class) are required to wear helmets, no exceptions.

3. Show attire is not required, but appropriate attire is mandatory. If in doubt, think “family friendly”. All participants must wear boot with at least 1” heels. No shorts please.

4. No refund on entry fees paid without vet or physician certificate.

5. Participants must pay for all classes in full prior to the start of the show, or leave blank check with the show secretary.

6. The judges’ decisions are final. If a judge or staff member decides that an animal is not fit to show, that decision will be final as well.

7. The following may be grounds for disqualification and expulsion without a refund:
• Unsportsmanlike conduct or behavior toward horses or humans
• Use of severe bits or training devices
• Unruly or out-of-control horses
• Mistreatment of any horse, as determined by show staff or judges
• Exhibiting or continuing to exhibit a horse that is exhausted, injured or lame

8. Any disputes, concerns or problems during the show should be brought to the attention of the show manager at the registration booth.

9. All horses that kick are required to have a RED ribbon attached to the tail that is clearly visible at ALL times. You will not be marked down in any class for this.

10. Horses should not be tied to any arena fences or rail or any place that would constitute a hazard. Horses must be accompanied by a handler at all times unless they are in a stall or safely tied to a trailer.

11. No exhibitor should be tied, buckled or fastened in the saddle in any manner. (Especially in Leadline Classes.)

12. No dogs allowed on the show grounds.

13. No stallions.

14. Hands and arms of the Rider/Handler must be clearly visible to the Judge at all times. No coats, heavy or oversized sweatshirts, etc.

15. If a minor piece of equipment or tack should break during a class and the rider is safely able to finish without any injury or discomfort to the horse, the run will be considered complete.

16. There will be NO Gate Holds — it is your responsibility to get to your class on time.

17. DEFINITIONS FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SHOW:
• Rescue Horse: Rescued Horses must have proof of Rescue either with before and after photos or proof of adoption from a Rescue Organization. This is to prevent wrongful and/or unfair entries.
• Senior Horse: Horse 15 years old or older
• Novice Rider:  A rider who has never won first or second place in any riding competiton. The Novice classes are open to riders of any age.

18. Clean up of your trailer area and/or stall is your own responsibility. Please bring a shovel.

19. SAFE and its affiliates, including but not limited to members directors, volunteers, and show staff; Bridle Trails State Park staff, vendors, and employees; and persons affiliated with show sponsors will not be responsible for any loss or accident to owner, rider, guests, horse or equipment during this show. Show participants are responsible for keeping themselves, their horse(s) and their property safe. Exhibitors, riders and handlers participate at their own risk.

20. Under Washington State Law, RCW 4.24.530 and RCW 4.24.540 provide that an equine activity sponsor (i.e., an individual, group or club, partnership, or corporation, whether or not the sponsor is operating for profit or nonprofit, which sponsors, organizes, or provides the facilities for an equine activity) shall not be liable for an injury to or the death of a participant engaged in an equine activity (i.e., Equine shows, fairs, competitions, performances, or parades that involve any or all breeds of equines and any of the equine disciplines), nor may he or she maintain an action against or recover from an equine activity sponsor for an injury to or the death while engaged in an equine activity. "Participant" means any person, whether amateur or professional, who directly engages in an equine activity (i.e., riding, training, driving, or being a passenger upon an equine, whether mounted or unmounted), whether or not a fee is paid to participate in the equine activity.
