We recently received an update on Kelly from Dr. Heather and Laura:

Kelly came to Steven’s animal sanctuary in 2023, when she needed a retirement home. She was a SAFE favorite for her gentle spirit, but she was older and struggled with lameness and some hoof and skin issues so she needed a soft landing, not a working home. She filled a void for us, because we had lost our older Clydesdale mare, Rose, to stomach cancer in September 2022. Kelly was a perfect fit, she slid right into the herd. She has had a few special friends in her time here so far, she flirts with the boys, she’s kind to the goats and sheep, and she enjoys being loved. She has some ringbone (pastern arthritis) so she gets joint supplements and pain meds as needed. We keep an eye on her insect allergies and presumed chronic proliferative lymphedema, but she’s not bothered by them anymore, she’s managing and happy. We hope she has another decade or more with us!
