“Little Ese-may-may has really matured over the last few months. She’s developed a more settled and relaxed disposition and has been very well-behaved. We had some soundness concerns with her right front, but with good shoes and some rest, she’s now looking spectacular.
During her time off, we decided to investigate some of the touchy, “cold-backed” behavior she’s consistently shown since she was started under saddle. Dr. Lewis from Rainland scoped her for ulcers, and we found enough evidence to justify treatment with UlcerGard. Thankfully, we were graciously donated a large amount of recently expired tubes, so this otherwise expensive treatment came at no cost! After a month of treatment, we rescoped her and are happy to report her ulcers have cleared. To help prevent recurrence, she’s now on sucralfate and is showing no further signs of discomfort.
Now, we’re ready to get her fit for work and start saddling and riding her again. We’re excited to bring her back into training and spend the summer exploring local trails and arenas. She’ll be joining the others this summer as we aim to get in as many miles—and as many trailer rides—as possible.”
