Congratulations to our June Volunteer of the Month, Eric Whittle! Since joining SAFE in February 2024, Eric has been a bright and dependable presence on both our Monday AM and Wednesday PM chore teams. Always arriving prepared and with a smile, Eric brings positivity and joy that lifts the spirits of everyone around him; humans and horses alike. Eric’s kind heart shines through in everything he does. Whether he’s mucking stalls, tackling paddock work, weed whacking, or helping with any number of other tasks, he approaches each job with enthusiasm, care, and a can-do attitude. His dedication is truly inspiring; riding his motorized bike to the barn each week, rain or shine, to lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed. In addition to his hard work, Eric always takes a moment to brighten the day with a funny story or a sweet photo or video of dogs, adding a personal touch that makes everyone feel connected. His presence is a reminder of the joy and warmth that make the SAFE community so special We are so grateful for the energy, compassion, and heart that Eric brings to SAFE. We couldn’t do this work without volunteers like him. Learn more about Eric below.
How and when did you first get involved with horses? Do you have one now you want to tell us about?
I did not have any experience with horses prior to volunteering at SAFE.
What do you like most about volunteering with SAFE?
Being around the horses and the other people and helping with whatever I can around the property.
Do you have a favorite SAFE horse? If so, why?
Barb is my favorite SAFE horse because her paddock was the first one I cleaned. She tried to get my Mountain Dew out of my back pocket and she has a lot of personality.
What do you do when you are not horsing around with us?
I volunteer at Homeward Pet Adoption Center in Woodinville.
