Casey A has been working and riding Poppy since her earliest days under saddle, and has helped her grow into a confident and level-headed partner. At the most recent Joe Conner clinic, Casey took her out for a little spin in the outdoor arena amongst the groundwork horses (some of whom were a little spicy!) and says the following about her recent experiences riding Poppy:
“I got Poppy out to ride around the other horses during the groundwork session of the last Joel clinic, and she was great! She didn’t break stride when other horses were troubled, or when Joel rode up and flagged us from behind. As she gains confidence, her frame has gotten longer and her head has come down, and she is happy to feel back to me when concern arises. She still requires support to maintain a learning frame of mind, as she can be quick to revert back to old, defensive behaviors if she doesn’t feel like the person at the end of the lead can support her, but she gives her whole heart when she believes in the partnership. She’s a gem.”
