Lexee N has been (re)starting Ranger under saddle, and says the following about their experience together at the recent Joel Conner Clinic:
“The more we ride Ranger, the more we learn about his history. This clinic has brought us to a pretty strong opinion that Ranger was never broke to ride. So we’re now calling him our 20 year old 2 year old. We have basically given him a fresh colt start at the ripe age of 20. With this comes a bit of nerves as a rider since he’s been walking around the majority of his life without balance, and to ask him to both carry himself and now a rider has been quite the journey.
But we have hope that he’s going to make it through this restart and come out a pretty comfortable light riding horse. He’s pretty gentle which makes things a bit easier as we continue forward. Over the last few weeks he has become so much stronger and stable, and as we add some speed to our riding work he is feeling so much better. He has a ton of life but still needs direction for his greenness. I look forward to the next few months of bringing him more balance and confidence as a riding horse.”
