Back in 2021, Edward arrived at SAFE alongside his friends Jacob and Esme. The trio had been adopted from an orphan foal rescue by a family that was not equipped to care for them. On intake, Edward was suffering from equine asthma, and as a result was incredibly thin. Over the next several months, we had to teach Edward to accept a nebulizer, and how to wear a halter — in that order. Once he got healthy, we started Edward under saddle, and since spring of 2022, this handsome guy has been chugging right along in our horsemanship program and earning his stripes as a solid riding horse. He grew to be quite the ‘steady eddy’ in the arena, and in addition to rides out on the trails and around the property, attended a number of off-site clinics with his riders. In his last months with us, Edward even began to school some beginner riders, such was the degree of his education. While we loved having Edward around, we had to wonder why he hadn’t yet found his person.
Which Is why we could not be happier to announce that Edward has been adopted! Emma came out to meet Eddie, and the two hit it off. After a couple more visits, Emma was ready to seal the deal, and on a warm day in June, Edward made his way to his new home. He settled in very well, and the pair have been enjoying each others company since! Congratulations, Edward, what a beautiful future is ahead for you!
