As part of our commitment to a lifetime of safety, we are here to support our alumni horses and their owners whenever needed.
It was with sadness and a very heavy heart that Edward’s adopter asked us to welcome Edward back to SAFE. Shortly after adopting him, Emma faced major changes in her life circumstances, which required a shift in her focus. Given her situation, she was unable to give Edward the time and attention she would have wanted. After thoughtful discussion with staff, we felt that bringing Edward back to SAFE was the best option for his well-being and successful re-homing, while allowing Emma to focus fully on herself and her needs.
Paige, one of Edward’s riders while he was at SAFE, mobilized quickly, scooping him up just a few days after the decision was made to bring him back here. Edward had no problems settling into his paddock, where he was greeted warmly by the neighboring horses.
During his adoption, Edward was scoped for ulcers, and was just finishing up his treatments when he arrived back at SAFE. We will get him a re-scope and then when given the all clear by our vets, get him back under saddle.
It is always our wish that all adoptions last through the horse’s entire life, but we understand that that is not always the case. We made a guarantee that we would keep Edward safe, and so safe at SAFE he shall be while we help him find his next loving home.
