Every six weeks or so, a special day comes along called ‘Farrier Day,’ in which all the horses in the barn have their hooves trimmed. Even when you are a young horse, you are not exempt from Farrier Day, as proper hoof care begins early!
Marigold spent her first few Farrier Days getting accustomed to the whole procedure, and at her most recent visit with our fabulous farrier in question, Daphne, she stood very well for her trim on all four feet. She asked the questions most young horses ask (“do I REALLY have to stand?” “What happens if I wiggle over here?”) but did fabulous overall. At the end of the visit, she made Daphne promise that she would not tell anyone else how well she did. It is a good thing she can’t read.
