In 2019, we met this Barbie for the first time. Back then, she was a filly, running feral as part of the Fall City 40, malnourished and lacking in basic care. At SAFE, Barb got several fresh starts – halter and saddle included. During her time with us and over many hours, Barb learned how to be a good horse citizen — though it is in her nature to stir up a little trouble from time to time.

This Barbie is a very special girl. Spunky and opinionated, Barb’s personality is big, bright, and bold. Like most strong flavors, we knew that Barb wasn’t going to the be the right fit for just anyone, but we weren’t in any rush. Whether it takes 6 months or 6 years, we give the horses the time it takes.

Which is why we are so very excited to announce that just a few weeks ago, this Barbie got adopted!
Lila and her mom Erica came out to meet some horses, and were drawn to all the things that make Barb, Barb. Over the course of several visits, Lila got to know Barb even more, and with each visit we watched as their partnership and comfort with one another grew. Lila matches Barb’s energy beautifully, and we could not be more excited for following along with the pair on their future adventures.

In addition to her human family, Barb also gained a best friend in her new gelding buddy Nimbus, whose mellow gelding-ness is a perfect foil for Barb’s lively nature.
