Eda is sweet. Eda is smart. Eda is adopted!
Eda, one of the horses seized alongside over 500 roosters in an animal control seizure early last year (what we refer to as the Valentine Herd), arrived at SAFE having just weaned her foal, despite being a youthful three herself.
Looking at her beginnings, it’s hard to remember a time when Eda wasn’t the model citizen around the barn. Through groundwork and patient time spent, Eda changed from a standoffish, guarded mare into a horse who anyone could be around.
She was started under saddle at SAFE, and quickly rose through the ranks as a solid riding horse. She even took a trip this summer over to Ellensburg for the Buck Brannaman clinic, where she was the same steady eddy she is at home.
Tori and Geir came to meet horses back in the spring, and fell fast for dear Eda. Over the course of several months, they spent time getting to know her at SAFE, and thoughtfully prepared for her arrival by improving their property with additional gravel, building a supportive network of trainers, and connecting with the horsemanship community. Before she took her home, Tori also attended the Joel Conner Clinic with Eda in May, and more recently, brought her back for our August clinic.
In her new home, Eda lives alongside two young horses, with whom she became fast friends. From day one the trio were mutually grooming over the fence and napping as a herd.
It gladdens our heart to find such a special match for an equally special mare, and we are so excited for what the future holds for her in her new home.
