We are saddened to share that alumna Angel has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Angel was in her mid-30s when she found her way to her adoptive home, where she spent her final years surrounded by love, friendship, and a family who cherished her exactly as she was.
Her adopter, Carla, shared:
“She had a wonderful life here with Renee and she was a mama to many of the others. She was like the welcome wagon whenever a newbie would come into the herd.”
Angel’s gentle presence touched both horses and humans alike. She enjoyed being groomed and doted on by Renee, and developed a particularly close bond with one of the mules, Ziggy, who was rarely far from her side.
When a serious tendon injury left her unable to safely continue, Carla made the heartbreaking decision to let her go with dignity and compassion.
“I know it was better than the alternative of having her go down and languish, but we, the herd, Ziggy, and Renee, are heartbroken and we miss her.”
While our hearts ache for those she left behind, we are also grateful. Every rescue horse deserves what Angel found: a loving family, devoted companions, and a place where they are understood and treasured. Angel had all of that and more.
Thank you, Carla, for giving Angel such a beautiful life and a herd that loved her deeply.
Run free, sweet Angel. You will never be forgotten.
