Once upon a time there was a chestnut gelding named Edward. When we met Edward, he was a bag of bones — he had equine asthma, you see, which was not being helped by the moldy hay he’d been eating. As a result, all of his calories were going towards helping him breathe, leaving him in very poor shape. But Edward had a spark in his eye, and we knew that this guy would go on to great things.
And indeed, he proved us right. Sweet, silly Edward grew up and out, gaining all his weight and an education under saddle as well. Eddie turned into a ‘steady,’ and was adopted out, but due to circumstances beyond his control, found his way back to SAFE again.
Enter Barbara and Dale, who came to SAFE looking for a riding horse. Edward was the match they were looking for, and it wasn’t long after meeting that Eddie was making his way to his new home.
Since day one with Barbara, Edward has been experiencing all sorts of fun new adventures. From meeting and immediately bonding with his chestnut gelding brother Nic, to exploring the enriching obstacles and landscapes that comprise his living and play spaces, Eddie jumped in head first and hasn’t looked back. Thanks to the documentation of his adopter, we have been able to follow Eddie as he settles into his new, exciting life. We couldn’t be happier for this guy and this fabulous next chapter of his story!
