Molly McCord has always been passionate about horses. As a child, the highlight of her summers was the chance to ride ponies at the state fair and camp. At 16, she found an underweight, neglected Thoroughbred — A Handsome Ransom — at an auction yard and committed to nursing him back to health. She discovered Buck Brannaman and became fascinated by his horsemanship techniques. In 2021, seeking community and connection with horses, she began volunteering at SAFE on a chore shift. She was quickly drawn in by both the volunteer program and the rescue’s mission. Eager to learn, she took every opportunity to audit clinics, attend classes and seminars, practice her skills, and read extensively in her spare time. After a career in affordable housing property management, she joined SAFE as Volunteer Program Manager. Molly is deeply grateful to play a role in enhancing the volunteer experience and supporting the healing and growth of the horses at SAFE.
