Alumni Update: Piper
Piper is looking good! Talia takes her out for trail rides off the property and she recently took her to a Joel Conner Clinic at SAFE. Talia and her husband cleared fruit trees from several acres to give the horses more room to roam. They also installed a Palouse…
Alumni Update: Bijou

A Tale of Teeth (Wilma)
Wilma arrived at SAFE to a chorus of oohs and aahs — it’s not every day that we get to save a forgotten long-eared equine. Our visual checks on intake clued us in to her most pressing care needs: long hooves, visible ribs. But it wasn’t until we offered her a welcome…
Alumni Update: Lacey
Lacey is doing well and seems to be thriving in an environment where she is one-on-one with a handler and has only one stable mate, Cameo, also a SAFE alumnus. Her adopter, Janelle does not ride Lacey, however, she spends a lot of time with her and in the last two…
Alumni Update: Bramble (Ranger)
Ranger was diagnosed with Cushing’s and so Jossalyn no longer does cutting work with him. She still does liberty work with him, and he no longer needs treats for liberty work as he absolutely loves to do it. He still wants to jump although Jossalyn doesn’t allow him…
Alumni Update: Mesquite
Mesquite is still being fed every six hours, so as to prevent his tendency to colic. Because Cory and his wife Melissa keep such a close eye on him, he has not had a major episode in four years. Mesquite (Skeeter), as Cory calls him, has two friends, a mare on each…
Alumni Update: Nyx
Lindsay and Nyx are doing well. Nyx is 19 this year and still very healthy and willing to go for rides. Nyx also loves hanging out at the barn with his stable mate, Squish, who is Lindsay’s husband’s horse. Nyx is a lucky boy. Lindsay takes Nyx out on trail rides…

Ovaries No More-varies (Junie)
Sweet Junie was dealt an unfortunate hand when it came to her mare parts — those with ovaries can probably relate, though Junie’s ‘time of the month’ was most of the time, most of the month. We started Junie on Regumate immediately after her arrival at SAFE, but…
Alumni Update: Tucker
Tucker’s adopter, Christina, recently adopted another mini horse through our Outreach program named Poptart. Here is a photo of Poptart and Tucker, now best buddies, with Christina.
