Candi K on Artie S:
“Looking for the perfect dance partner?
What if he’s more than just smooth moves—what if he’s kind, willing, and eager to grow alongside you?
Meet Artie Shaw, a true gentleman with a golden heart and a remarkable ability to connect with his rider. Over the past several months, Artie has worked with multiple members of the Horsemanship Team, showing his adaptability and gentle nature with a variety of people in the saddle.
During the May Joel Conner Clinic, I had the privilege of deepening my partnership with him—not just on the ground, but in the saddle, where he truly shined. We worked on riding from feel alone: unified circles without reins, building impulsion from the seat, refining transitions from a walk to a trot to a lope using just my body. Artie responded with softness and forward energy that made it feel like we were dancing.
But like every great ride, it all starts on the ground. Artie needs the groundwork prep to stay relaxed and focused. Hindquarters, front quarters, bending, backing—all of it sets the stage for success. When he’s in that right frame of mind, he is a dream.
He’s not only a joy to ride—he’s a role model for our younger horses too. Artie gently reinforces herd boundaries, patiently tolerates their antics, and helps teach them what it means to be a good citizen.
Artie is ready to find his forever home. He’s steady, responsive, and full of heart. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to ride him and learn from him—he’s a horse I won’t forget.”
