Heaven welcomed a new angel yesterday morning. It is with a heavy heart we share the loss of SAFE alumni Camille. She was living happily with her adoptive family of humans and horses until the end. Her condition and comfort had declined to the point that it was time to let her go. Her old arthritic joints could not carry her big heart anymore.
Her family and herd miss her, but the little gelding she was adopted with, Sebastian, probably misses her the most. We hope that he will find a new love quickly. She leaves a big hole in everyone’s heart.
The SAFE family sends our deepest condolences to Camille’s family. We are so grateful for the caring and kindness you gave Camille, and for giving her a lovely home. Stories like Camille’s inspire us to work hard for those that can’t speak for themselves. Camille experienced horrific neglect as a carriage horse, and because of the wonderful officers at Pierce County Animal Control, she was saved. She had an amazing foster home who gave her everything thing she needed to start her path of recovery. SAFE was honored to take over and continue her care. As she became more and more healthy, all of our hearts filled with joy. Finding her the perfect adoption was the happiest ending we could have imagined.
We will miss you, Camille. We hope that you are galloping pain free. Know that you touched our hearts and will never be forgotten.
